English Conversation Group
Join us for English language practice with fellow language learners on Mondays at 6:30 p.m.

ESL Intermediate English Class
A weekly adult intermediate English class for people with some English experience. Meets Friday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Parenting Workshop: Cool, Calm & Connected Parenting
Join us on Saturday, April 15th, 2017 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for this workshop from the Positive Parenting Initiative. Participants will learn parenting tips to stay calm when stressed, set limits effectively and use creative discipline approaches that teach rather than punish.

Parenting Workshop: Parent-Child Communication
Join us on Saturday, April 22nd from 3:30-4:30 for a workshop on parent-child communication from the Positive Parenting Initiative. Learn how to communicate effectively with your child, to set clear boundaries, to understand your child's behaviors and become a creative problem-solver.

Inspect Your Gadgets Tech Class: April 25th from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Bring your charged smartphones, tablets, phablets, and/or mp3 players in for some tips for ease of use and how to get awesome library apps.

Author Talk: April 27th at 6 p.m.
Steven Kassels will speak about his book, Addiction on Trial, Tragedy in Downeast Maine.
In this murder mystery, relapsed drug addict Jimmy Sedgwick is accused of the murder of local, Annette Fiorno. Unassuming Maine lawyer Rob Hanston and big shot attorney Shawn Marks form an unlikely legal team as they attempt to discredit the overwhelming evidence. Medical and behavioral aspects of addiction are woven into the intrigue of this thriller, which culminates in a riveting murder trial.

Spring Storytimes at the East Boston Branch Library:

Preschool Movies at the East Boston Branch Library
Join us on Tuesdays from April 18th to May 30th at 10:3 a.m. for short films featuring some favorite characters. For all ages, accompanied by an adult.

Reading Readiness on Tuesdays at 11:15 a.m. For ages 1-5, accompanied by an adult. This weekly storytime features books, songs, movement and a craft. Groups please register in advance(. Runs April 18th-May 30th)

Baby Lapsit on Wednesdays at 10:30- Join us for bounces, rhymes, stories, songs, and activities. For children under 2, accompanied by an adult. (Runs April 19th-May 31st.)

Countdown to Kindergarten Playgroups
Countdown to Kindergarten runs a playgroup on Mondays at 12:15 p.m. and Fridays at 9:30 at the East Boston Branch Library. These playgroups are for children ages 1 thru 5 and their moms, dads, grandparents or other caregivers. Activities to help children start to build on their school readiness skills include, circle time, sensory play and free play. There will be no playgroup during the week of April vacation(April 18th to April 21)

Countdown to Kindergarten also offers a Saturday Bilingual playgroup at the East Boston Branch Library twice a month. The remaining dates for the school year are April 29th, May 6th, May 20th and June 10th. The program starts at 10 a.m. for all ages and there is a baby circle time at 10:45 a.m. The playgroup consists of circle time with songs and fingerplays, storytime, parachute play and free play.


Read to a Dog at the East Boston Branch Library on April 24th at 3:30 p.m.
Meet our new reading buddy, Nellie! Nellie loves to listen to stories. Come read a book to her and make a new dog friend. First come, first serve basis. Special thanks to Dog B.O.N.E.S. of Massachusetts.


Homework Help
High school students help children in grades K – 8,Monday through Thursday from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. A Boston Public School teacher provides homework help on Mondays and Thursdays from
4 – 6 p.m.No registration is necessary. (There will be no homework help during April vacation week.)

Tween Book Club
Our next meeting of the Tween Graphic Novel Book Club will be on April 12 at 4:00 p.m. If you are between the ages of 8-12 and love graphic novels, come join us for book discussion and fun
activities. This month we are reading Zita the Spacegirl by Ben Hatke. Stop by the library to check out a copy of the book.


East Boston Branch Seed LIbrary
Our seed library launched in March. We have 175+ varieties to choose from. Come sign out some seeds and get ready to start growing fresh, free herbs, veggies, and flowers.


Yu-Gi-Oh Club
Are you a child or a teen who enjoys Yu-Gi-Oh! cards? Join us for our weekly Yu-Gi-Oh! Gaming sessions on Saturdays at 1 p.m. We ask that individuals come with their own set of cards to play. No previous knowledge of the game is necessary. For ages 6 and up.

April Vacation Activities!

Afternoon Teen Movie:
Join us on Wednesday at 1 p.m. for a fun movie and snack!

Animal World Experience on Thursday, April 20th at 5:00 p.m.
Meet a variety of exotic animals from around the world. Children get to truly “experience” mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates like never before. For ages 4 and up, accompanied by an adult.

Concert with Peter Sheridan
Children are welcome to join musician Peter Sheridan for a fun concert on Friday, April 21 at 3:30 p.m. Peter, along with some of his friends, pays the guitar and harmonica and treats us to a sing-a-long that gets your little ones moving.

Talk, Read, Play Day at the East Boston Branch Library

Join us for a Flash Rhyme Mob! On April 27th at 11 a.m. on the reading porch to sing our favorite songs and nursery rhymes. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place on April 27th at 12 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.
