JUNE 25 and 26 DATES FOR THIS YEAR'S SACRED HEART FESTIVAL

What: Our fourth annual fundraising initiative to support year-round, non-religious youth programming at Sacred Heart Parish in East Boston, Sacred Heart Festival is A 2-day street festival, comparable to those seen in the North End, with a bit more of a family-oriented focus.

When: Friday June 25 and Saturday June 26, 2010 from 5:00 to 11:00

Where: 303 Paris Street East Boston, on the grounds of Sacred Heart Parish, and adjacent streets.

Mission: To host a quality, cultural and entertaining family oriented event that showcases the best East Boston has to offer while raising funds for the year-round, nonreligious youth programming at Sacred Heart Parish.

Details: Features include street vendors pedaling food and wares as well as games, inflatables and pony rides for the kids. Additional activities are reminiscient of old –fashioned church picnics including watermelon and pie eating contests, an opportunity to toss a pie at some of our prominent local officials as well as our very own Fr. Wayne Belchner , pastor of Sacred Heart Parish. The festival centerpieces are East Boston’s largest 50/50 raffle – with the potential to win up to $5,000 and a the activities that take place on the main stage – including performances by local favorites and well known national musical legends.

Past performers include, Evelyn Champagne King, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, friend to the festival and Grammy winner – Tiny Tavares. This year’s headlining performance is being kept under wraps for now, as we are tying off for now as we finishing dotting our I’s and crossing our T’s on the contract, although just as exciting and in keeping with our prior year’s entertainment bar we have set. A hint – hits include “You Make Me Feel Brand New” and “Betcha By Golly Wow”.

Contact: 2010 Festival Chair: Dino Manca, 617-721-7878

Admission: Admission is free – and there are dozens activities that are either free, or at very low cost.

Vendors: We still have a few vendor slots open. For more information please call 617-721-7878.

Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering, please call 617-721-7878.

History: Founded in 2007, to date we have raised over $25,000 for our non-religious youth programming.
