Chelsea, Mass. -- The Salvation Army Chelsea/Revere/East Boston
Corps is holding a Salvation Army Awareness Day at the Chelsea
Market Basket parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m. Area families are invited to attend this free event and
learn more about the Salvation Armys services. Families can also
view the Salvation Armys emergency disaster services canteen, a
Cataldo ambulance, and more. Give-aways will be available.
Sponsors of the event include Cataldo Ambulance, Kool Smiles,
Distrigas of Massachusetts, FedEx Kinkos, Independent Newspapers,
and Market Basket.
The Salvation Army facility, located at 258 Chestnut St., Chelsea,
features classrooms, a gymnasium, a kitchen and cafeteria, and
computer lab. The services provided include:
Kids Club after-school program;
Meals on Wheels for Seniors;
Seniors lunch program;
Food Pantry;
Holiday assistance (food baskets, toys, and winter clothing);
Youth Camperships at Camp Wonderland in Sharon.
Utility assistance through the Good Neighbor Energy Fund;
Clothing assistance;
Rental/mortgage assistance;
Seniors vacation to the Camp Wonderland in Sharon;
Referrals and case management;
Pastoral Counseling;
Adult and Youth Christian services including Sunday Worship,
Sunday School, and Bible Study
