Off to college?
Apply for your absentee ballot today!
BOSTON, MA – Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the Boston Board of Election
Commissioners remind Boston’s college students who are heading off
to schools around the Commonwealth and around the country to apply
now for their absentee ballots for this Fall’s municipal elections.
Only three (3) of Boston’s nine (9) City Council districts will hold
preliminary elections on Tuesday, September 27: District 2, District
3, and District 7. There will be no preliminary municipal election
for At-Large City Councillors. The last day to register to vote for
the Preliminary Municipal Election is Wednesday, September 7.
Students currently registered to vote in Boston who will be out of
the City on September 27, and live in one of the three Districts
holding a preliminary election, can vote in person at the Election
Department, Room 241, Boston City Hall, on any business day, between
the hours of 8:15AM and 4:45PM. Applications for the absentee
ballots for the November 8th Municipal Election can be filled out at
the same time, to have the ballot mailed to the campus address. The
last day for in-person absentee voting is Monday, September 26, at
12 noon.
If a student cannot make it to Boston City Hall, or has already
departed for school, the student or his/her parent can print out the
application for an absentee ballot from the Boston Election
Department’s website:
www.cityofboston.gov/elections.
Please make sure to use the correct form.
