Healthy Fun for the Whole Family:
Let’s Get Walkin’!
East Boston, MA, March 23, 2012—The Let’s Get Movin’ program at the
East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (EBNHC), along with the
Boston Public Health Commission and walkBoston, is sponsoring a
community walk for the whole family on Saturday, March 31, 2012,
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The walk begins at the Let’s Get Movin’
office at 120 Liverpool Street in East Boston. Two miles in length,
the walking route is suitable for all ages.
Alison Smizer, Community Initiatives Coordinator for the Let's Get
Movin' Program, says, “We’re excited about the upcoming Let’s Get
Walkin’ event. Families will have a chance to explore a beautiful
area of Boston by foot. Come join us and other community members for
a healthy and fun experience!”
The first 150 people to register for the walk will receive a free
T-shirt. Free snacks will be provided after the race. For more
information or to register for the walk, contact Alison Smizer at
617-568-4783 or smizera@ebnhc.org.
The Let’s Get Movin’ program at EBNHC is a lifestyle-change program
for children and teens that promotes physical activity, teaches
proper nutrition, and helps young people make healthier lifestyle
choices. Let’s Get Movin’ activities are fun as well as healthy and
educational, and include after-school and summer programs, field
trips, community events, and cooking classes and educational
seminars for adults who want to learn more about supporting their
children’s healthier lifestyles.
The East Boston Neighborhood Health Center has been a vital part of
its community for over 40 years, providing easily accessible,
high-quality health care to all who live and work in East Boston and
the surrounding communities of Chelsea, Revere, Everett, and
Winthrop. EBNHC handles 300,000 patient visits per year—more than
any other ambulatory care center in New England.
