Captain Mancini
promoted to Superintendent
Farewell to Commander Mancini
by Ernani Dearaujo,
Tonight, our police Captain, Frank
Mancini, announced that he has been promoted to a
Superintendent position and will be leaving as Commander of District
7. He will be deeply missed and, I trust, will shine in his new
city-wide role.
The Captain and I started serving in East Boston in the same month
two years ago. My relationship with him has been one of my most
treasured in city government. He came into the role as a past
director of the Anti-Corruption Office; with a stellar record of
achievement in his prior District Captain role; and, with a life
story that exemplifies the best of East Boston -- he immigrated from
Italy with his family to East Boston when he was 7 years old and
went from Lubec Street to become East Boston's District Commander
and now a Superintendent of Boston Police.
Thanks in great part to the efforts of Captain Mancini and District
7 police, East Boston is safer today--by any metric--than at any
point in my lifetime (30 years). Job well done!
We will announce a farewell celebration in the coming weeks so the
community can come celebrate the Captain's achievement and
promotion.
Dearaujo is East Boston
Neighborhood Coordinator for the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood
Services.
