East Boston Turns Out to Support Boston City
Council Candidate Brian Gannon
District 1 No Casino Candidate Continues to Gain Momentum as Neighbors Host
Campaign Fundraiser
Boston (October 11, 2013) - East Boston turned out in
numbers Thursday night to support Brian Gannon's campaign for Boston City
Council against incumbent Sal LaMattina. Hosted by Liz Nofziger at Atlantic
Works Art Gallery and Studios in East Boston, the evening was a celebration of
the neighborhood's artist community and provided voters with an opportunity to
learn more about Gannon's vision for the future of the District 1 neighborhoods
of East Boston, Charlestown and the North End.
As co-chair for the No Eastie Casino organization, Gannon's campaign continues
to gain momentum in his home neighborhood of East Boston where the casino
referendum is a crucial issue for voters. "The casino issue has become larger
than our desire to not have it in our backyards," stated Gannon. "The root of
the issue is the lack of due diligence on the part of our representatives to
gauge the long-term impact on the community and, put simply, their lack of
representing us-many people in this community at best question this proposal and
moreover simply do not want it."
Gannon continues his campaign over the next week in Charlestown and the North
End beginning with his attendance at tonight's Columbus Day Cocktail Reception
at the Fairmont Battery Wharf beginning at 6:30PM.
