Lt. Gov candidate Cheung Statement on 8/25 Suffolk University / Boston Herald
Poll
(CAMBRIDGE AUGUST 25, 2014) – Cambridge
City Councillor and Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor Leland Cheung
released the following statement on today's
Suffolk University
/ Boston Herald poll:
"Todays's Suffolk University / Boston Herald poll
makes it crystal clear that the race for Lieutenant Governor is wide open. One
of my opponents has spent four years campaigning and the other is the favorite
of political insiders, but my campaign is fueled by the power of my ideas and my
commitment to help lead this great Commonwealth.
"I believe that the role of the Lieutenant Governor is to serve as the Chief
Operating Officer of the Commonwealth and to help administer the progressive
vision of our next governor. We must continue to move Massachusetts forward and
build on the progress Gov. Patrick has made, but we should not ignore the
controversies and scandals of the past 7 years. The missteps of the Patrick
Administration have had little to do with a lack of progressive vision or a
failure of big-picture ideas and everything to do with a lack of attention to
the detail in administering the Executive Branch of our state government. As
voters continue to tune in to this race in the next two weeks, I will continue
to outline my vision for a Lieutenant Governor's office focused squarely on the
effective running of state government."
