The following is from the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway Council (sent 3/25/2026)
Dear Friends,
We are unfortunately postponing our astronomy event 3/26/26 due to the weather forecast for tomorrow evening that shows cloud cover over Boston.,
Our friends at PopScope (www.popscope.org)ย work hard to ensure that participants are able to maximize their experience and have provided us with the following message.
“Our intended targets of the moon and Jupiter will be covered by clouds (and our telescopes cannot see through them); in order to create optimal conditions for our first event with the Friends of the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway, we would like to postpone to another date and hope for a clearer forecast. Unfortunately, the weather has been unpredictable and unexpected, to say the least this winter and spring in Boston, and has made planning for outdoor telescope viewing events even more challenging than usual. This is the first time where we have had to reschedule an event three times! (In normal circumstances we only need to reschedule an event toย a rain/snow date once).
We use weather forecast tools like Clear Dark Sky and Atmospheric for the most up date and accurate weather reports. Due to how variable the weather is in Boston we always need to check 24 to 48 hours before an event to see if the sky will be clear.”
Stay tuned we will reschedule!
