Sponsored by the East Boston Branch of the Boston Public Library the legendary North End-based ensemble soaked the Greenway with classic and contemporary popular songs, including “That’s Amore!“
(EAST BOSTON, September 15, 2024) As part of its effort to highlight the history and culture of one of the neighborhood’s founding immigrant communities this summer, the library hosted The Roma Band musicians on Saturday.
Formed in 1919, the band, which performs at many North End summer feasts, provided a number of crowd-pleasing, Italian, patriotic, popular and sacred melodies. The band made a heart-felt exit by marching to the classic “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
Members of the audience were treated to a wide repertoire of song and often sang along. Audience were also treated to refreshments and food from Sammy Carlo’s.
