The first fall opera concert to begin the 30th anniversary season of Boston Bel Canto Opera.

Annual piano recital by Bradley Pennington playing works of Soler, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin with assisting vocal artist, baritone Paul Soper singing music from Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Donizetti’s La Favorite and Brahm’s dramatic “Von ewiger Liebe”

The joint encore for this concert will be an unfinished aria for baritone by Verdi which Mr. Pennington has completed in harmony and orchestration. This piece was originally intended to be part of the opera I Masnadieri which the composer wrote for a production in London in 1847. The composition had its world premiere performance at Jordan Hall, Boston on BBCO’s Verdi Centennial Gala in 2001 to high critical acclaim.
