Update 2/5/2025
According to his father Ricardo Garcia, Elijah made it to the quarterfinals in Kansas City this past weekend. However, he couldn’t get past a split decision in a bout with another boxer from California. But as Elijah knows losing builds character. “We are extremely proud of him and he is currently ranked as one of the top 80 pounder’s in the country,” the elder Garcia told EastBoston.com. “We are back in the gym and are planning to compete this March as well as getting ready for the Jr Olympics in June.” The Garcia family thanks everyone for their financial and heartfelt support.

Elijah Garcia wins regional championship. Help send him to Kansas City later this month!
A local East Boston boxer is making his way to the top with a recent victory. (Read more about Elijah here. “The making of a sweet scientist: East Boston’s Elijah Garcia is all business in and out of the ring” by Frank Conte)
Elijah spent months preparing for his next big fight and this weekend the 12-year-old Eastie boxer won two matches, one by a unanimous decision; the other a split decision. The victories were more impressive since his opponents were Silver Glove Champions from Connecticut and New Jersey.
Elijah advances to the National Championship in Kansas City on January 29th through February 1st. According to his father, Ricardo, “It’s going to be tough for us to generate the fund to get him there in such a short time so we set up a go fund me account to help with some of the cost.” So the family has set up a GoFundme link.
