There are 9 different questions on this year’s ballot. With the election around the corner, ……do you know enough about each question? In fact most people know little or nothing about the 9 questions on the November 3rd election ballot. That is why the Winthrop Town Republican Committee in coordination with the Revere and East Boston city Committees is presenting a “KNOW the BALLOT QUESTIONS“ evening.
The “Know the Ballot Questions” evening will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 6:30pm at the Winthrop Senior Center on Harvard Street in Winthrop. All voters are encouraged to attend and learn about the ballot questions so that each citizen will make their best informed choices.
The presenter and main speaker of the evening will be Paul Craney. Paul Craney is the executive director of Mass Fiscal. Mass Fiscal is a non-partisan, non-profit organization focused on social welfare. It advocates for responsibility, transparency and accountability in government. Mass Fiscal has also been the definitive authority on ballot questions in Massachusetts for years.
Although one would expect understanding the questions would be simple and logical, that isn’t necessarily the case. For instance on question number 9 it is questionable whether a yes vote is for or against this ballot proposal.

- Collective Bargaining for CPCS Employees
- State Primary Elections
- Election Day Registration
- State Revenue Limit and Rebate
- Natural Resource Fund
- Single Family Homes
- Marijuana Use
- Firearms
The Winthrop Republican Town Committee is presenting this evening as part of their continuing effort to educate voters. Their belief is that educated voters will make for a better community and a stronger nation. “Personally I don’t feel the need to convert people to any specific decision. If all people understand the implications and importance of the question, we will all get the best results at the ballot box for everyone.” Committee Chairman Paul Caruccio continues, “ I am absolutely delighted to have an expert in Paul Craney to address our communities. He has established himself and his organization as a beacon guiding our state toward responsibility and success.”
