At just 10 weeks old, Roy Antonuccio grand-daughter Karina was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a devastating blow to our family. She needed a stem cell transplant to survive, and we were fortunate to find hope and extraordinary care at the Dana-Farber/Jimmy Fund Clinic. On September 17, 2024, Karina received her first life-saving stem cell transplant and achieved complete remission.
In November 2025, just 14 months after her transplant, we learned that her leukemia had returned. With the unwavering support of her incredible medical team, Karina began treatment again immediately. On January 23, 2026, she received a second stem cell transplant, with her father serving as her donor. Throughout every step of her journey, Karina showed remarkable strength, resilience, and joy that inspired everyone who knew her.
In the months that followed, Karina continued to fight with everything she had. Sadly, her leukemia returned once again. Despite the tireless efforts of her physicians, nurses, and the entire team at the Dana-Farber/Jimmy Fund Clinic—and despite every treatment they could offer—it was not possible to stop her disease. Throughout it all, they never stopped fighting for Karina, and they never stopped caring for our family with extraordinary compassion, honesty, and love.
