It’s summer! Time for fun, fitness and entertainment.  Come to East Boston’s Mary Ellen Welch Greenway for outdoor concerts, conditioning and culture along East Boston’s beautiful Greenway.  Events are family-friendly and free, thanks to the Friends of the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway and their many generous supporters. Brighten and enlighten your summer in the city with our Summer Music and Fitness events: 

SUM POETS, hosted by Bunker Hill Community College

Sum Poets is a collective of women and gender-expansive Bunker Hill Community College student and faculty poets whose poetry honors both the sum of these identities and the voice that is both from them and greater than that sum. Alexis Ask, Maya Blanco, Lilian Elizabeth, Eliana Espinal, Grace Kelly, Luleta Meharenna, Tuá Nefer, Deborah Schwartz, and Tairyn Venable, of the Sum Poets.

Whip out the captain hats to instantly be transported to turquoise seas and cool breezes with the smooth sounds of yacht rock music.

KS Quartet

The K.S. quartet consists of a rotating roster of Boston’s finest musicians! These seasoned music professionals as well as Berklee college of Music professors have been playing in the area for decades. Alongside budding band leader Kristi Scaccia, the KS Quartet will play a wide range of music, including jazz, funk, pop, fusion, rock, swing, and even Italian standards. Classically trained French Horn player Kristi Scaccia, brings a new flavor to the songs you know and love.

This is a rare chance to hear this world-renowned musician live. His dazzling virtuosity will delight you with music ranging from Italian music, jazz, pop and folk. Cory’s prodigious career spans professional playing as a child to becoming a unique mind-blowing talent at festivals across the United States and around the world. He also performs mainstream music with DJ’s, folk genres from French and Bulgarian to Jewish music, and classical music with the Boston Symphony. But it is Jazz for which he’s most famous. Internationally known, local opera singer Sonja Tengblad will also perform with Cory’s ensemble.

Chica Fuego and the Gringos

This multi-talented trio will delight you with American and Latin songs. Don’t be surprised if they throw in some juggling, too! Bring your chairs and blankets and relax to smooth sounds this summer in East Boston.

Our Summer Music Events are held in the majestic Bremen Street Park Amphitheatre, directly behind the East Boston YMCA (215 Bremen Street), conveniently located at the Logan Airport T Stop (Blue Line and Silver Line). The Mary Ellen Welch Greenway is a rail trail and park in East Boston located along the path of a former Conrail line. The Greenway connects several significant open space areas in East Boston, including Piers Park, Memorial Stadium, Bremen Street Park, Wood Island Bay Marsh and Belle Isle Marsh.
