September 8: Boston Bel Canto Opera presents Joanna Porackova

On Sunday, 8 September, 2024 at 3 :00 p.m. Boston Bel Canto Opera will present a vocal recital by its distinguished diva, contralto Joanna Porackova.

Ms Porachova will sing operatic arias from Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Rossini’s Tancredi, Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia, Saint-Saens’Samson et Dalila and Menotti’s The Consul, the latter having been the vehicle for Joanna’s debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in 2001,

This event marks the 30-year celebration of Joanna’s being on the roster of BBCO; she debuted with the company in 1994 at Harvard Club of Boston singing arias from Verdi’s Aida and from Puccini’s Tosca. Since 1996, she has sung the leading soprano roles in BBCO’s productions of Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Bellini’s Norma and Verdi’s Aida, II Trovatore and the Messa da Requiem, all to the highest acclaim.

She was also principal soprano soloist in the company’s Verismo Opera Gala in 2000, and in the Verdi Centennial Gala in 2001, both at Jordan Hall, Boston. Her international engagements included the title roles in Salome, La Wally, Rusalka, Turandot and Isolde.

Admission for each concert is $27.00; $24.00 for seniors (62 and older) and students with proper ID (Cash and personal checks ONLY) OPEN SEATING (Parking is FREE, adjacent to the building, but spaces are limited) (Also on-street metered parking which is free on Sundays)
