BOSTON, MA (June 18, 2024) – Jordan’s Furniture President Eliot Tatelman on Saturday, June 15 presented 1,000 Diamondback bicycles, helmets, locks, and bicycle safety information packets to youth members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston and other local Boys & Girls Clubs at Jordan’s Big Bike Giveaway. Each of the 1,000 bicycles, put together by Jordan’s Furniture staff by hand leading up to the event, featured personalized name plates for each recipient.

The more than 3,000 guests attended the event at Bayside Parking Area at UMass Boston enjoyed food from Wahlburgers and entertainment from DJ Master Millions, Recycled Percussion from the hit show America’s Got Talent, and Phunk Phenomenon. Those in attendance also heard from Tatelman, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston Nicholas President and CEO Robert Lewis Jr. about how the donation fosters healthy youth development and physical wellness throughout the City of Boston.

“Every kid deserves the freedom of a new bike,” said Eliot Tatelman, President, Jordan’s Furniture. “They can ride to school, to the store, to a friend’s house. However, not everyone can afford one.”

Tatelman envisions the donation to be a gift that keeps on giving, teaching youth members of local Boys & Girls Clubs to pay it forward and give their bicycle to someone else to use once they have outgrown it.

“I can’t think of a better way for our young people to start the summer than receiving a new bicycle and enjoying a beautiful day filled with music, dancing and delicious food with family and friends,” said Robert Lewis, Jr., Nicholas President and CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. “Big thanks to Eliot and Jordan’s Furniture for reinforcing to our members that they are an important part of our city’s future.”

The philanthropic effort, led by Tatelman, aligns with the City of Boston’s investments in child bicycles and bike instruction initiative, which provides children with the freedom to explore their neighborhoods, develop physically, and have fun while riding their bicycle.
