Details: This Friday, June 6th @ 6:00 East Boston will be celebrating its 12th annual Pride Flag Raising event at Piers Park on Marginal Street. This annual community and family friendly event includes a light speaking program from local officials and representatives of the LGBTQIA+ community, culminating in the main event of hoisting the Inclusive Pride Flag in beautiful Piers Park alongside Boston Harbor. Discussing this year’s theme – “Accessibility to the American dream for all that reach for it” is Dat Fitzgerald.
Dat FitzGerald, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and has has been a resident of East Boston since the 1980s. He was born in Vietnam to Mrs. Lien Thi Vo. His father, Michael Francis Davis, a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. Dat is a Lead Mental Health Worker at Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center in Boston.
One of the founders and organizer of East Boston Pride Flag Raising 2025 – Celeste Ribeiro Hewitt said “ Dat is the personification of this year’s theme. They are a true example of someone who has reached for and realized the American Dream and strives for that for others”.
“In a time where many question if the projection of our nation’s values align with their own, Dat is someone who reminds us that the American dream is for everyone,” Celeste added.
The East Boston Pride Flag Raising Committee is looking forward to another wonderful event and invite the entire community to join in this tradition of celebrating Pride. Bring a picnic basket, some friends and family and stay awhile!
