BOSTON, MA – January 15, 2026 — Navy Yard Hospitality Group, in partnership with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), is thrilled to announce the preview opening of The Rink at The Tall Ship, taking place this weekend, January 16. The preview marks the first phase of a new seasonal transformation of East Boston’s iconic waterfront venue. This initial soft launch offers guests an early look at the outdoor ice rink and select programming, with a full grand opening scheduled for February 11, 2026, when additional features, amenities, and experiences will debut.

Starting with this weekend’s preview event, guests can enjoy outdoor ice skating and ice bumper cars set against sweeping harbor and skyline views. Expanded offerings, including chalet lounges, market stalls, warming features, and additional food and beverage experiences will be introduced as part of February’s grand opening.

Since its debut in 2021, The Tall Ship has become one of Boston’s most celebrated warm-weather venues, welcoming more than 250,000 guests annually to its 245-foot Tall Ship turned floating oyster bar and expansive waterfront site. The Rink represents the next chapter in the venue’s evolution, ensuring the waterfront remains active, welcoming, and accessible throughout the winter months and beyond.

A New Winter Destination for Boston

The Rink at The Tall Ship will offer a layered, immersive experience featuring:

Outdoor Ice Rink with Skating Loop: Public skating for all ages, seasonal programming, special events, and group outings.

Ice Bumper Cars: A unique, high-energy attraction for families, groups, and winter thrill-seekers.

Airstream Food Trailers: Serving elevated comfort and ski lodge fare such as hearty soups, grilled cheese sandwiches, tacos, and indulgent sweets like Belgian waffles, hot cocoa, and freshly baked goods.

Community Programming & Activations: A rotating lineup of themed skate nights, holiday-inspired events, family day experiences, and community-focused free and discount skate programming offered throughout the season.

Coming February 2026: Heated chalet lounges, market stalls, warming domes, an ice bar and additional food, beverage and hospitality experiences.

Additional Details

The Rink at The Tall Ship will operate seven days per week, from January 2026 through March 2026.
