EdVestors to Award $100,000 School on the Move Prize Live During Oct. 27th Hybrid Ceremony

Mayor Janey and BPS Superintendent Cassellius will recognize three finalist Boston schools and announce winner to live audience during hybrid ceremony

WHAT: EdVestors will award one Boston school the 16th Annual $100,000 Thomas W. Payzant School on the Move Prize during a hybrid ceremony on Wednesday, October 27th in person at the GBH Studios in Brighton and streamed live via Zoom. The annual prize recognizes a Boston Public School that has shown consistent academic improvement. The other two finalist schools will be awarded prizes of $10,000 each.

The 2021 Prize will spotlight eligible schools from previous years, with a focus on lessons learned from remote and hybrid learning and strategies for reimagining learning in the coming years. Rhondella Richardson, WCVB-TV Anchor and Reporter, will join the event live to serve as the Emcee of this year’s ceremony. Mayor Kim Janey and BPS Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius will also provide remarks and recognize the three finalist schools:

Patrick J. Kennedy Elementary School (East Boston)

New Mission High School (Hyde Park)

James Otis Elementary School (East Boston)

No one knows who the winner will be until the announcement is made and the award is presented LIVE.
