R.I.P. Tony “The Kid” Barrasso, WWII veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, passes away at 103

Born in the North End, Tony lived on Bremen Street for most his life. A true patriot!

Barrasso, Anthony “Tony the kid” of East Boston raised in Revere passed away peacefully in his own home surrounded by friends and family on June 2, 2021 at the age of 103. Tony was born in the North End of Boston on February 8, 1918. Beloved husband to the late Grace (DeStefano) Barrasso. Devoted father of Janice A. Heffron of Rindge, NH, and Denice A Barrasso of East Boston. He was predeceased by siblings Rose Aloise, Palmira Spadorcia, Pasquale Barrasso, and Lillian Berni. Cherished grandfather of Toni Ann St. John, Michael Heffron and his wife Laurie, Denise Alley, and Nikki Dee Mackin. Great grandfather of Anthony Heffron, Dominic Heffron, Dante Heffron, Frankie Alley, Tessa Alley, and Starla Grace Paolini. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loving caregivers. “Tony the Kid” was part of the Greatest Generation! He proudly served his country in the United States Army with the101st Infantry, 26th Yankee Division. His unit was engaged in battle as soon as they landed in France and later found themselves on the Western Front in the Ardennes, known as The Battle of the Bulge. When returning home from the war, Tony worked as a foreman for Old Mr. Boston Distillery. He was a member of the Soldiers Home program now known as the Don Orione adult daycare. A visitation will be held at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home 128 Revere St, Revere on Monday June 7, 2021 from 10:00am 11:30am followed by a 12:00pm Mass at St Anthony’s Church in Revere, MA. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony’s name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
